I would not ordinarily have washed myhair, but as a special concession in honour of Jane's work in rescuingme, I did struggle to do so by standing at the wash stand and bending myhead over into the bowl. When all was completed I dried myself thoroughlyand climbed back into bed to await either Martha's or Jane's return.Five minutes.
