Toward the back of the saloon, I saw Hudson seated at a table with two very tough looking characters. Both of them were standing, staring at me, and d...awing their guns. Abi and I rolled on the floor in opposite directions while drawing our automatics. Bullets ricocheted off the floor where we had been lying when we dropped. We had agreed earlier what we would do if we were ever in this situation. Each one of us shot at the man on our side, so that Abi shot the man on the left and I shot the one. I got dressed and got in the car with my mom and looked at the time. It was only 7:15, i said "mom why are we leaving this early, school doesnt start for another 30 minutes." When we arrived it was obvious they only expected Jerry. But they didn't turn me away. After dinner we sat around the piano singing hymns till bedtime. Mrs. Buckley told Jerry we'd have to sleep in the same room, but one of us had to sleep on the floor. I agreed to let Jerry have the bed. As I laid there in that dark room, so close to Jerry but afraid to move on him. Just as I started to fall asleep I could feel the bed.
