I just had feelings I didn’t know how to explain but I didn’t go any further than that. I was an innocent and naïve not at all aware what was on...the mind of a man his age. One day when I was walking past his house, he was outside washing his car and called me over. So I walked up his drive thrilled he called out to me. He had such a wonderful deep voice. I loved listening to him talk. He asked , “Hey princess, how ya doing? I was wondering if you could do a really big favor for me?” . Ready to pop, and still able to cast a missive spell. I’ve never seen the like.” She moved to Kate’s bedside.“Hello, Ms. Tisdale,” Kate greeted the woman as she grimaced in pain. After a few seconds she relaxed.I stepped into the room. “You’re having contractions?”Ms. Tisdale looked at me. “Yes, which is why she called for a doula.” She turned back to Kate. “Is this the father?” Kate nodded, beaming at me.“Doula?” I asked.The older woman sighed in exasperation. “Google it! Now get out.”. She set about getting the beach blanket arranged around us the way she liked it and I poured us each a gimlet from the cooler. We snuggled together, the blanket loosely wrapped around us and touched our glasses together in the toast we had been making together for 20 years. “To us.” We said simultaneously. We chatted for a bit about kids, work, bills-married stuff. Then I sighed and said, “You were killing me in that bikini today.” She smiled at me over her glass. “I noticed,” she replied,. "Wh-where -I?" was all she managed to get out.I ran into the room. "Lilah? Are you okay? I have so many questions.Fir-"She coughed a bit. "D-Dean?
