So I took a deep breath.Then I flipped myself onto my back, and took some more deep breathes.There I was, truly, utterly in the middle of nowhere, a single speck ofhumanity isolated within a vast stretch of wilderness. My arms and legsstretched out, I was completely vulnerable to the wind and the cold. Butneither consumed me.I just lay there breathing in and breathing out, surrounding myself,filling myself with the wind, with the cold, inviting them inside me andknowing they would treat me. We did manage to make it back just before dinner and enjoyed some delicious seafood, conch fritters and steamed vegetables.After dinner Dad cornered Bob and me.He tactfully asked if we would be okay with going to Ibera’s with him, Professor Lowenstein and Brenda in the morning, once the boat got underway. He said we’d only be gone for a few minutes since we were just going to Ibera’s. He admitted to thinking about having Jeremy and possibly Sarah go with him, but he just knew they didn’t know. This was the sign thatDad had seen and which had made him sign me up for the classes here.Apparently he'd never read the smaller signs, much less went in andtalked to the instructor. Ironically if he had, he probably would havesigned me up for classes here anyway, just not as a joke.There was a smaller sign above the door, which Dad had obviously missed.It said 'Frankenstein's Self-Defense'.
