I had crawled out and started to straighten out the back of the car when raised voices caught my attention. My erstwhile companions stood at the corne... of the building in a heated exchange with a guy in a shirt and tie who gestured repeatedly toward me. I caught only a few words: “kids,” “complaints,” “family place,” “police.” I took just long enough to wad up the stadium blanket we had all used as a towel and to throw it over the snow bank. Then I jumped into the car, and in an instant was off. ”“There are other ways to get some of those.”“That’s what the doctor who did the tests told me, but said it was unusual.”“True. And yes, I really do want to kiss you.”Summer smiled and nodded, and I moved so that our lips just barely touched in the softest of kisses. Not wanting to be aggressive or push things, I drew back and saw starry eyes, almost as if she was in a trance. I waited a few seconds then repeated the soft brush of our lips, before sitting back. Summer sighed and I felt her lean. He knows how she looks, dark hair done up, dark eyes, hint of a smile at her lips. Fairly plain but she had the qualifications he needed. Hudson didn’t need a lover or even a companion. This was about finding someone to help on the farm and raise his children. Lord knew he’d been trying to do it with only three hired hands and his older kids long enough. He needed a cook, a stout worker and a woman that would stand by him and his family. More wagons pull up and he leans against a post watching. They could tell by his bark I guess....anyway...they had to go get him before the deer run him so far away they would lose him....so they those two took off after the dog and told me and the older guy if they weren't back in 20 to 30 minutes just to meet them back at the truck....so he I am...high as kite, laying in this silo that is completely dark...you can't even see your hand in front of your face....with some 40 year old guy I didn't know that well. As I laid there we really weren't.
