I crawled away from her, backwards, on my heels and hands, never turning my back on her, scared, ashamed, hurt. I had no idea where this was coming fr...m but it was real, hurtful and totally unwarranted. I got up and ran upstairs to the bedroom, dragged a suitcase out from under the bed and filled it with anything I could lay my hands on. I packed my work rucksack with laptop and papers. She came to my office door. “Cath, I’m so, so sorry.” I didn’t say a word. “I am, Cath, truly. I know…” I was. I didn't do anything." I protested."Ahh but you did everything." The shopkeeper appeared right behind us. "The curse of friendship. A lonely but fruitful life awaits you. I would've charged you $20 for it but now that you used it it'll be $50." I looked shocked until he nodded over to the big wall of a man standing by the entrance. He had a mean looking face on him and I didn't wanna mess with that."Babe do you have $10?" I asked Emily. She sighed and handed the guy a $50 bill. Then she grabbed. But who’s a critic on Halloween right? We passed out candy until there was nothing left an hour later. It was pretty dark outside now and the streets went pretty quiet. Just as I was lying down on the couch to watch some traditional Halloween movies, the doorbell rang again. Great, we have nothing left anymore. “Let’s just ignore it.” I told Taylor who was lying beside me with my hand down his pants. Something we usually did while watching tv. But then it rang again, and again. Until there was. I had some ideas of what could be done, but kept them to myself until I decided whether to join them permanently or not. It would be a big project and require a lot of manpower to make the change. If I went to work for Bob permanently, I felt it would be a worthwhile way for me to contribute something to the company.So Deb and I became part-time lovers, I guess you could call it.
