Finding none, the observant one signaled the big man in front of Rafe. The big man stepped forward, regarding Rafe with a calculated stare. ‘Are you...Cabrezi?’ Rafe cleared his throat and said, ‘Yes. Are you the one that I’m supposed to see?’ The big man glanced at his companion before answering. ‘No. He sent us to escort you to the meeting place. Come with us, please.’ The limo ride was long and tension-filled. The men stared at Rafe for the entire duration of the trip, and all of his questions. "I am twenty two, you know." Huh," the older woman looked Dawn again and laughed. "Well, you'd never know it. Without all your makeup, you don't look older than sev*nteen or eighteen."Dawn frowned. "How long have you been watching me?" Pretty much all night. I wasn't sure if that was you," she gestured to the hand behind Dawn's back. "Look, if I wanted to fight, you'd be down already." Then what do you want?" I just figured I'd say 'hi' and see if you wanted to get a drink." You stalked me all. Two minutes into my way home, I discovered that the AC in the rental had ceased working and with outside temperatures creeping towards one hundred degrees, the heat quickly became uncomfortable, and then unbearable. The last fifteen minutes were pure torture.As I entered the home via the garage, it appeared there was nobody home. I yelled out to anyone upstairs, but I got no reaction. Maybe Charlotte was visiting her friends, or perhaps she was off on one of her shopping sprees. Who knows where. I knew it was gonna take a little work somewhere down the line, and I'd tried to prepare myself for that.
