The seats were black and there was a haunting melody playing over the speaker system. Stephen ushered Marian to a seat near the rear of the bus and th...n sat next to her. He asked her about her life, her interests, and her dreams. She was enchanted by his soft voice and his cat-like eyes. When he spoke to her about his life and his travels, he would sometimes run his fingers over her hand, causing goose bumps to form on her skin. The bus hit a bump in the road causing the pair to be thrown. She grinned and walked towards me, taking her coat saying Thanks, Ill let you know. The club was crowded even at this early hour. It wasnt a big club but it had atmosphere and good bouncers so Maria and I were frequently there, part of the old school crowd. Megan liked it and we took up seats at the bar near the filled dance floor. She was scoping out the crowd, noticing the differences between what she knew and this place. It didnt take long for me to meet up with some friends and I introduced. Her reluctance to bare her crotch was also thought a little out of place. However, one of the usual staff – a girl whose face was normally covered by a veil and her feet by large boots, but wore nothing else – was feeling somewhat poorly that night. The manager suggested when he phoned Innocence that it might have something to do with all the drugs she took, and Innocence didn’t find this at all unlikely. She’d often felt uncomfortable working next to someone whose body looked like a ravaged. The budget flight we were on had those seats that are designed for little people, not 6′, 190 pound men like me. And not with a 5’6′ 180 pound female sitting next to me, either. I sat on her right and my left arm was fairly familiar with the right side of her body by the time we arrived. Hank kept up a happy banter the entire trip, also, I rather enjoyed that. There was nothing silly or stupid about her, she knew a lot about our business. Then I watched as she worked her way through the crowd.
