I wasn’t sure how long I’d been out, but I quickly took stock. I didn’t hurt, except for my neck, and I could move. I looked over and saw Red ho...ding his head, a bit of blood dripping from his nose. I tried to turn to look back but my neck hurt too much to do that.“Stephie? Emily?” I called out.“I think I’m OK, Yankee,” Stephie said. “I can’t move though, my leg is stuck. Emily’s breathin’ but I can’t wake her up. I had tried to start over many times in my life.The unknown and unforeseen circumstances had conspired to press against mydreams in numerous ways, always leaving me with a little less drive, alittle less energy for life. Now, however, that was different. I had a freshstart, and while I might have cringed at the thought of it being within awoman's body, I couldn't believe the power I felt in this. From the first blast of cold air in her face as her mount dove down from the summit and began to fly, she had a smile that even the freezing cold thin mountain air couldn’t impair. She actually liked flying!The birds could fly like rockets, even with a passenger each on their backs, at great speeds but as we flew away from the mountain summit, the vast range of ice covered mountains seen from high above appeared to be endless. Then the air in front of us shimmered and the entire flock of birds.
