Having calmed down a little, I started to think of an excuse or maybe just flirt with him with hope that he would just give me a warning. When he arrived back at my window, he asked to pull the car. Always the perfect gentleman,he escorted me to the car and opened the door for me. The dance wasbeautiful, with candles and low lighting, and a live band that playedmostly slow songs. Neither one of us was an accomplished dancer. Isimply put my arms around his neck and he put his arms around my waist,and together we just moved to the music. I put my head against hischest and felt his big, strong arms holding me. He was warm and gentle.Between dances, we sat and talked and laughed like old. It was actually my “handler” down at the Federal building in Phoenix that alerted me to the fact that I was on the radar of the Detroit mob’s headquarters only a short distance from the Federal building downtown. I had a good deep cover and it was unlikely that any of those nasty characters would connect me to my position in the east coast family as a head enforcer and “made man” with lots of inside juice in the organization.It was kind of funny, all things considered.The Feds didn’t know I was.
