When I was little, we had to spend some time at our grandmother’s during the summer holidays. She had heavy wooden shutters completely blocking out ...ny speck of light. I was sharing her large double bed with my two elder brothers, and I often woke in the middle of the night feeling a presence in the room looking over us. My brothers just laughed at me and said it was the ghost of grandpa, who had passed away when I was three. As I got to the corner of the house, I put my good leg forward, ready. It was all big boy bridge gauge metal, and Dad apparently had won a cement mixer up the dirt drive to pour all the footings.
