Taking a big glass of wine with me, I went to sit on the sun porch with my eyes closed. So much for my short lived Sapphic adventure. I lost track of...time. In fact I may have dozed off until the ringing of the phone snapped me out of it. ‘Sherri, I can’t do this alone’ ‘I’m on my way, Jenn. Just hang in there.’ When I got there, she was sitting with her back against some pillows she’d piled behind her. ‘What am I going to do, Sherri?’ ‘I don’t know, Jenn. I’m the last person in the world you. I don't get over to this side of town that much, but, I always drop in when I do, was my reply. She leans forward and whispers that Don, one the usual's, had been kicked out of his apartment a few days ago by his girlfriend of several years, and was bouncing from bar to bar. Don would always try to join me, when I was there, but we didn't hang around with each other. As I finished my drink, Gloria asked if was 'ready', I said no, and started to get up and leave, when Don stumbled in. He scanned. ‘Sorry.’ We both said looking at each other. She smiled. It was number 4. She looked a bit different in her civvies. ‘You’re one of the girls from the grid aren’t you? Number 4?’ I said. ‘I am indeed.’ She said, still smiling. ‘You’ve been photographing me all day haven’t you?’ ‘Not exactly.’ I said a little shamefaced. ‘To start with I was trying to shoot round you, then I thought ‘what the hell’ and started shooting you and the others as well.’ ‘Get some good pictures?’ ‘Of you? Yes. " I was going to go on, but, I thought better & stopped myself.I had a sneaking suspicion that he'd suggested longer, but, she bargained to the statement of particulars I'd just been presented. Just a hunch."Gosh, Cully, that would really be nice. I think he could, well, we could relax then a lot more. I am safe here. I'm so relieved over that fact. And it's a nice apartment.
