Bang, no door. The guy didn't have a safe, he had a safe ROOM. Thank God he left the door unlocked when he was on site. Once I looked around I realize... that I'd massively under-prepared for this mission. I went out for the jug and the hand truck, then started loading up the nicely marked sleeves containing silver dollars, silver halves, gold coins and little gold bars. I wondered where he got all the diamond rings? When I had loaded the jug full I dumped his waste basket and almost filled that.. "Alright. Let's go," I reply, as I get into the passenger seat of the van and he gets into the driver's seat.He passes me the documents I need to sign to agree to participate. I read them a bit. If I sign, I agree not to talk about it to anyone, I agree that they're not at fault if anything goes wrong, and I can no longer choose not to participate. I sign the documents and hand them back to him.He drives a few blocks to a construction site. The first few floors of the site are complete. I pass. I tried to do the same, but I was sure that I looked like a teenage girl ogling her heartthrob. He was just being nice to me, I told myself. He had years more experience than I did at work, and he probably saw me as an ambitious greenhorn who needed mentoring, that was all. Now and then I would catch a whiff of his cologne and the scent of him, just a teasing, momentary whiff, and I’d have to resist the urge to bury my face into his chest and saturate my senses with the smell of him, imaging. "So are you planning to relinquish your rights to the children?" she asked."Well, if Jack is ready to adopt them legally, sure. No matter how I try I will never be more than a weekend dad to them. Jack's house is a three hour drive from here and I am sure I could only make it on weekends, and besides, would you cancel all your weekend plans if told you I wanted to spend time with the kids? No. So basically I am reduced to being a dad who gets to spend time with his children only when it suits.
