It was as though everything I was saying I wanted was being transmitted back to the kitchen, and they were preparing it as I spoke. Maybe they were, as I was in a small alcove away from the rest of the restaurant. I suspected that the kitchen was right on the other side of one of the walls of this alcove. I enjoyed slowly eating the salad.
