With one final heave of strength I lurch over the side, turning as I went over the edge so that I was falling face up.As I fall I can see up at the underside of raised freeway. A thick column of steel gray smoke billowing from it. I see an explosion tear right through a portion of it though I cannot hear it. There is a single precious moment of peace as I fall. I take my breath, the one I'd wanted so badly. It is everything I wanted.
