See if any of them are to your liking and I’ll be back in a jiff,” she said with a smile as she left the room. Moments later, after he had sampled the contents of two of the glasses, Vera reappeared, as naked as the day she was born. Steve nearly choked on his mouthful of wine but Vera calmly walked to the kitchen, poured herself a glass of wine and came back to sit opposite him in the matching sofa. “Well, what do you think?” she asked. The banks would close at around 3:00 PM and the scrolls would start coming in through the messengers at about 4:00 PM. My job would start at 3:30 PM and end at midnight. There were 3 bank branches in about 5—6 miles radius, who would send the scrolls in and after all the scrutiny, next morning they were delivered back to the respective branch. The timings of the job were very odd but I could understand, unless the public dealing in the branches was over, the scrolls were not all ready, my job. He was often times manipulated by other women including his mother. She constantly told him what a failure he was and choose his mates for him until I came along. For that reason alone she didn’t like me and she made no secret of it. Even though he tried he could never make her happy or proud of him. So where she failed to be there for him I tried to fill that void. Judging on how things were going between us my efforts were failing. That’s why sitting here listening to the choir sing its 2nd.
