I stand in the corner of the gallery, one of my favorite places. It is one of the few places where standing people have a full picture of the interact...on between characters.On my right side, a young woman moves closer to me. She tries to have a better picture as she cannot see the right side of the stage. I barely see her silhouette. She is quite shorter than me, a petite frame. I make some space and indicate with a gest to come where I was myself. I will stand behind her. It is not easy to. Then Andrew Raden and Sarah Parr arrived from the other direction.I called out, “Hey, everyone. Give ‘em a break. Think of how they feel—how’d you like it if that were you? It will be, maybe even next week, ok? Cool it now!”Andrew spoke to Jane, “Sweetie, are you ok?” She was shaking and supporting herself on Jimmy’s arm.“I’m scared! I can’t do this!” she moaned.“How about if you help Jimmy undress? Then he can do you. Just think about that and don’t watch anyone else. Bet you’ve never. Nearby, a middle-aged Robin Hood, clad in green tights with a jeweled dagger in his belt, was pouring himself a stiff Scotch. At his side stood Maid Marian, in matching Lincoln Green, with a tiny bow and a clutch of toy arrows slung over her shoulder. Marian’s slender fingers furtively played across Robin’s tightly packed buns, then dove down to his suddenly stiff package, just to let him know she was not letting him stray too far. A leggy Parisian courtesan with bulls-eyes painted on her. ‘We broke up,’ I said, rather too quickly, to try and reassure him. Confusion flashed across his face, which was not the reaction I had been going for. ‘Not that I mind, but why are you here?’ ‘I saw James earlier. We were talking and he persuaded me that I should come and talk to you. I was scared to. I didn’t think you would want to talk to me after I did the three minute mile getting out of here.’ He smiled slightly at that, which relaxed me a bit, but he was clearly still trying to keep.
