He knew that he had just witnessed the deaths of hundreds, perhaps thousands of people, and suddenly his pathetic problems seemed insignificant. He was just thankful to be alive. Slowly, he joined the parade of refugees heading north, away from the disaster, some limping, others bleeding, many crying. Her next-door neighbor was a nice-looking woman and we met/talked a bit one night while we were both out cutting the lawn. The houses were pretty far apart and no fences. I noticed her walking around in her house in a robe the prior evening but unfortunately, she never took the robe off, as she was watching her niece that week. But it did make me think, if I could see into her house, she could surely see into "mine." It was getting dusk out and I finished my friend's lawn before the neighbor.
