The store was barren except for some empty shelving units and a dusty, worn sales counter at the front of the store.“Tada!” Emma said, arms outstr...tched. We were all silent for a few moments.Jess was the first person to speak with: “Huh?”Emma explained.“You are all standing in the new home of Russell Pet Supply!”“Who’s ‘Russell’? Do I know him?” I asked. Emma frowned.“Me. It’s my last name. Emma Russell. How did you not know that?” she said in exasperation.“Oh,” I said. “I don’t think you ever. I couldn’t help but smile and Dana punched me. “What?”“You were fishing for that,” she said. “I wasn’t,” I said. Both women looked at me unconvinced. “Honest. I can handle myself.”All three of us stared at each other, but Dana decided to move the conversation to the telepathic kind, which was understandable, but we hadn’t been using it. “I can see your point now,” she said. The telepathic link was weird to me. Each of us could essentially have different conversations while talking to each. Taking out my hankie I wiped the lipstick smear off his cheek. I said, "I might as well start looking after you now, so when were out, I'll remember."He chuckled, "Sherry, I think this is going to work out fine."Things at home seemed to be getting worse, Cliff sat and looked out the window all day and watched TV all night. I could hardly wait for the weekend to end, so I could go back to work.It was three weeks later when I was called into Mr Mullins office and told we would be leaving the next. I noticed at times she would sigh and other times she would smile that lovely smile of hers. Now she had tears running down her cheeks.I could see her getting hot and sweaty and wriggling her hips on the bed. The sun was up and coming in through the window. It was going to be a hot one.I left her a note and went down to the beach. Just a short walk through the last dune and I was there. Still too early in the morning for the crowds of this seasons tourist throng to get up and come down with.
